Lea Leone
Hey y’all!
I’m a New Orleans native and student of Louisiana State University. This semester I plan to apply to the Manship School of Mass Communications. I want to major in public relations and minor in visual communications. I am ardently passionate about social media marketing, graphic design and new media. After I graduate from college, I plan to apply to Lush Fresh Handmade Cosmetics North America. It’s a mouthful, I know. Someday want to move to Vancouver to work in social media marketing, brand communications, or public relations.
Madeline Freret
My name is Madeline Freret. I’m a full-time student at Louisiana State University and a part-time mermaid. Okay so that last part is fake, but it IS how the name mermadz came about.
My life isn’t glamorous or even all that interesting. But it is pretty funny sometimes. One of the most valuable lessons I’ve learned is to laugh at yourself and search for the joy in every situation.
Although I am young, I’ve learned a few things about myself during my 19 trips around the sun. They are:
Family is everything.
Laughter is essential.
Cats are awesome.
Driving with the windows down on a sunny day can cure any bad mood.
I am in love with New York City.
Apple pie is my favorite dessert.
It’s the little things that matter most.
This blog is dedicated to school projects (currently) but I hope to transform it into a lifestyle blog where I can share my life experiences, my opinions, my thoughts and my dreams.
That’s all for now, folks.
XOXO – Mermadz
Breanna Smith
I’m a sophomore at LSU studying Journalism and a drive-thru bartender at a small daiquiri shop in Denham Springs. I love to cook (and eat) and spend as much time with my family as possible. I’m particularly interested in investigative journalism, specifically in education and local government. But I am also passionate about writing profile pieces and memoirs because I think there is a great benefit in the sharing of one’s life experiences. My dream job is to write memoir and profile pieces for a magazine or to write investigative pieces on local education for a local news organization. My favorite part about journalism is getting “behind the scenes” and asking the tough questions.

Lauren Kennedy
Hi, my name is Lauren Kennedy and I am currently a student at LSU majoring in Mass Communications with a focus in PR. From this course I expect to learn how visual media affects the way consumers see things. Such as how commercials influence why we buy certain products. This course will benefit me and my goals by helping me to understand what things people look for when they want to buy something and help me understand how to communicate that visually. I am from Prairieville, Louisiana. My major is Public Relations. I want to be successful in school and after graduation. I haven’t completely made up my mind as to what I want to do after graduation. I enjoy hanging out with my friends and traveling to new places. I am very interested in the pop culture and fashion aspect of media. Such as keeping up with celebrity news and watching red carpets of award shows. I’m looking forward to this class and hope I learn a lot.

I am a mass com declared major so its in the curriculum but sound fascinating to learn about. I am from New Orleans and one day hope to be able to land a job at a newspaper or broadcasting company. My dream job would be to talk about sports all day. I enjoy playing basketball and golf and enjoy watching all kinds of sporting events. This year I have also become more familiar with politics due to the upcoming election and this being the first time I can vote. As visual folks, of course, a mandatory classroom group picture with bad lighting that makes everyone look shabby…
