MC 2015 – Li is an introductory level course of visual communication taught by Minjie Li at LSU, covering both theory and practice in four components – graphic design, photography, videography, and website. Li’s section particularly emphasizes how these four components are related to digital/mobile platforms, storytelling, audience engagement, and media diversity, which reflects on the design of the projects and assignments. After this course, students are expected to be able to create both visual products and platforms so as to use them together to accomplish strategic visual storytelling and branding. Responsive and Integrative Website Project

This project challenges students to create visual identity, build websites that are responsive to devices, design visual materials for responsive platforms, and execute effective content formatting. Through this project, they learn that design is not only about message, visual, and creativity, but also supposed to be sensitive to the consideration of platforms, devices, and user experience.

Guest Speaker | Zack Smith

He is a New Orleans based fine art and commercial portrait photographer that has been documenting the social, musical and cultural landscapes of Louisiana for the past 15 years. As a musician, artist, and storyteller, Smith believes that the world gets smaller as we celebrate our similarities and connect through our traditions and stories. On Monday, he is going to give us a talk on “Creativity in Diversity” and how he juggles client relationships, and how the most recent trends in social media platforms drive innovation in what he does from client to client.
